Shawn Sandlin is a lifelong resident of Berea with a deep commitment to serving the community he has always called home. Guided by his Christian faith and the principles of servant leadership, he believes in leading with integrity, treating others with respect, and working collaboratively to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Shawn brings more than 31 years of fire service experience to his role as City Administrator, including 26 years as a career firefighter and 10 years as Fire Chief. His career in public safety provided extensive experience in leadership, crisis management, strategic planning, organizational development, and community service.

As City Administrator, Shawn serves as the City’s chief administrative executive and is responsible for implementing the policies and priorities established by the City’s elected leadership. His responsibilities include oversight of City operations, budget and financial planning, organizational effectiveness, strategic planning, process improvement, intergovernmental relations, records management, and administrative support.

Shawn works closely with the Mayor, City Council, City departments, community organizations, regional partners, and residents to ensure municipal services are delivered effectively, efficiently, and responsively.

Having spent his life in Berea and raised his family in the community, Shawn has a personal investment in its future. He remains focused on responsible leadership, strong public services, thoughtful growth, and maintaining the qualities that make Berea a special place to live, work, and call home.

Above all, Shawn believes public service is about people. Through honesty, integrity, gratitude, and collaboration, he strives to build lasting relationships and help create a stronger, more connected community for everyone who calls Berea home.
