A MESSAGE TO OUR CUSTOMERS
It has recently been reported some of our customers have received calls from someone disguising themselves as utility employees requesting immediate payment over the phone in order to avoid a disconnection of services.
This is a Scam
Berea Municipal Utility personnel will never:
- Contact you and ask for payment over the phone in order to avoid disconnect.
- Request your banking information over the phone
- Offer incentives such as gift cards, deductions on your bill, or other methods of compensation in order to obtain your credit card or banking information
If you receive a call requesting the above information, you can simply hang up the phone or you can report this scam to the FTC or law enforcement.
