The Madison County Community Fund Board

The Madison County Community Fund Board of Advisors announced the creation of the Madison County COVID-19 Response Fund to provide critical support to vulnerable populations in Madison County who are adversely affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. This charitable fund will provide grants to nonprofit organizations in Madison County with strong experience delivering services related to food, healthcare, childcare, transportation and the elderly.

The governor has issued an executive order that allows pharmacists to fill prescriptions for 30 days, including an emergency refill if they aren’t able to make contact with a patient’s physician. There are restrictions on what medicine can be filled for those 30-day orders, it’s mainly maintenance medication such as blood pressure pills. That means things like narcotics can’t be stocked up on or abused with this order.

Berea Drug, 402 Richmond Rd, 859-986-4521; continuing their home delivery service, and have added a curbside delivery service, which means customers can park in the Berea Drug parking lot and they will bring out their medications to the car. At this time, they are not allowing anyone inside the store. They are currently open M-F 9a-6p, Sat 9a-1p and closed on Sun.

Berea Whitehouse Clinic Pharmacy, 104 Legacy Dr, 859-986-2323, continuing their home delivery service within the Berea zip code. They are screening patients at the door for any respiratory symptoms before letting them enter. Their current hours of operation are M-F 8a-6p, closed Sat-Sun.

Knight’s Pharmacy, 191 Glades Rd, 859-986-0500; continuing their home delivery service, and their drive-thru service. They are currently open M-F 9a-6p, Sat 9a-12p and closed on Sun.

Walgreens, 220 Richmond Rd, 859-986-1494, continuing their drive-thru window service, and a home delivery service that will deliver a 90 day supply of most medications through the mail. Customers must sign up for this service ahead of time. Their current hours of service are M-F 9a-9p, Sat 9a-6p, Sun 10a-6p.

Med Save Berea Medicine Shoppe,102 Prince Royal Dr, 859-986-7283, continuing their home delivery service, and their drive-thru service. Customers can also walk up on the porch, but no one is being allowed inside the store. Their current hours of operation are M-F 9a-6p, Sat 9a-1p, Sun closed.

All of the pharmacies advised that in order for someone to pick up medication for another person, they must know the person’s name and date of birth.

The Small Business Administration resuming acceptance of PPP loan applications on Monday, April 27 at 10:30AM EDT from approved lenders on behalf of any eligible borrower.

We encourage all approved lenders to process loan applications previously submitted by eligible borrowers and disburse funds expeditiously. All eligible borrowers who need these funds should work with an approved lender to apply. Borrowers should carefully review PPP regulations and guidance and the certifications required to obtain a loan.

Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet

Gov. Beshear is waiving the waiting period for unemployment for those who are losing their jobs because of COVID-19 and will waive any work-search requirements while Kentucky’s state of emergency is in effect.
“We know the steps we are taking are going to cause people to lose their jobs,” Gov. Beshear said. “We want you to be able to qualify for unemployment and we don’t want to create impediments that keep you from being able to get through this. We are going to make sure we get through this together.”
The Kentucky Career Center provides unemployment services when employees become unemployed at no fault of their own. Those workers can receive a small amount of money to help them make ends meet during unemployment. That money comes from unemployment insurance. Unemployment insurance is funded by payroll taxes. To file a claim for unemployment insurance benefits, the job seeker must be separated from your employer or experience a reduction in your work hours.

Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development

The Cabinet’s business development project managers will be making calls to existing Kentucky manufacturers, service and tech companies. Our project managers will offer insight, assistance and guidance during this time. Small Business ELA Loan Guide

The Codes & Planning office is currently staffing 2 people at City Hall for customer assistance. We are accepting building, mechanical, and electrical permits and plan reviews via email or by drop off at City Hall. Payments can be taken over the phone or a check mailed in. We request 24 hour notice for inspections.
This GIS / MS4 / Floodplain staff is on-call to answer any questions or concerns. Their office phones have been transferred to the department manager’s cell phone.

The finance department remains steadfast in providing quality service to our utility customers and ensuring financial obligations to our vendors and employees do not waiver. We strive to provide the healthiest possible work environment for our team by limiting the number of staff by rotating schedules and teleworking whenever possible. Our primary goal remains serving our customers and taxpayers while maintaining the financial operation of the city.

During this time of uncertainty, know that the Berea Fire Department continues to operating with a full staff ready and able to meet the needs of our citizen. Our response is restricted to the type of call for service given by our dispatch center. Do not hesitate to call 911 in the event you find yourself in need of fire/rescue. We are here for you. The Berea Police Department is remaining vigilant in the fight against Covid-19 and are committed to serving the citizens of Berea and our Commonwealth as a whole. We are limited to essential staff in operations and each of our treatment plants are in full operation. CSR’s are available to answer any customer calls and we are calling in staff to perform any customer requests. At this time our only reduction in day-to-day service offerings are street light and private light repairs are postponed unless the light is a major safety concern and all utility locates are only being performed on Fridays unless an emergency locate is needed.
